That is exceedingly rare, and absolutely authentic.

A group of those surfaced about two years ago on eBay. I was only able to land the Red Sox (Batting Sock Mascot) and the White Sox. They are distinguished by the unique logos and the Criss-cross stitching in the middle of the felt reinforcement strip... Not meant to accommodate a stick, apparently!

Great post and great pennant. Only one I've ever seen in 25 years of collecting!

Would love to see your two like it if you ever get some down time! Thanks for the info. Any idea of age? its made so oddly that I'm a little thrown off.

Circa 1951 or so. There were some really funky ones, including s great St. Louis Brownie. My stuff is packed away (recent move) but when I uncover it, I'll try to post some pics.

Lately I cannot attach photos from my cell. The "Manage Attachments" function no longer works for me. Anyone else having this issue?

Here is the Red Sox pennant from that odd early 1950s series. Note the different 'take' on the Batting Sock mascot, and the criss-cross stitching on the reinforcement strip.

Default small pennants

I'm not sure whether the purists would consider these pennants, but I haven't posted anything in a while and I thought some might enjoy my type five bf3s.

That Royal Rooters pennant is a killer. The color is so rich for how old it is. I don't think the wear takes away from it at all.

I love getting your pennant knowledge, Mark! Your story of this series reminded me of a group on ebay from maybe 10 years ago. I got the NY Giants one. Some went for a bit of money, others for nothing. I think the seller had a complete set of both leagues. I have a picture somewhere of all he had (would be happy to dig it up if anyone is interesting). These pennants supposedly were a CUBAN issue. Without digging mine out, I think they are all about 20 inches long.

Hey Chris - sorry, this is all I could find. My notes also tell me they were a Venezuelan issue, not Cuban. eBay prices were Tigers $114, Cardinals $16, Cubs $66, Red Sox $10, Giants $16 and Phillies $27.

Those are terrific, Rob! Darn, I somehow missed those but glad you got the Giants. I can see the Hispanic influence... Some work really well and some "not so much".

Very cool stuff, and I agree that oddball Giants pennant is indeed from the same series referenced in the original post.

Take care,
Mark

Any ideas as to what this Cubs is worth? I have a chance to buy it, but at a very high price. I don't see it in the Egner price guide.

Thanks!
Lou
P.S. We just picked up over 200 nice vintage pennants (30's through 60's mostly baseball & football) and we're going to look at more this weekend. Hopefully we'll be getting some nice stuff.

Lou,
I would say that pennant is in the $200-250 range. It is a difficult pennant, but a 40's - early 50's version. Hope this helps. Jason

I'm thinking this pennant may be in the same series. I do not own it. This is a crummy ebay scan I saved.
