What is the market value for a nicely centered 7 anymore? Probably one of my favorite cards in my collection.

Matty,
When are you going to unveil the card? Inquiring minds want to know!

Thx, brotha. When I get it in hand I will def post a pic. Feel it's bad juju otherwise
![]() ![]() Regarding that 6.5, that is a very handsome card; with centered 7s fetching $19,000+ these days, the jump really happens from 6 to 7 grade-- thus a 6.5 is a nice value. I was initially tempted to make an offer on that 6.5 when I saw it in my auto search, since the centering is gorgeous, but for me personally the stain is a bit too much considering I already found one. If I didn't have one, I would probably have tried to bring that 6.5 home. I wonder if it merited the ST qualifier at a higher number grade, but the non-qualified status was chosen at the time of grading? Regardless it presents really nicely. If it didn't have that blotch I would be all over it and have doubles! An extra 53T could be a nice trade chip should a nice 62T surface! Last edited by MattyC; 01-15-2016 at 09:08 PM. |

19K for a 7 these days? The world has gone mad lol. About a year ago I paid well less than 10 percent of that for this one. What happened to buy the card not the flip?

You can still get a 5 in the 2000s so don't imagine a 5.5 really goes for that much more as half grades tend to sell for much closer to the lower grade than the higher..i have seen 2 grades mean 7-10x difference in price happens all the time |

156 7s.
90 8s. And that it happens doesn't make it rational IMO, particularly if one is collecting cards not flips. Last edited by Peter_Spaeth; 01-16-2016 at 09:12 AM. |

I have changed my mind Matty. I'm not interested in seeing the card. No need to post an image.

Thx-- Jeff is a good buddy of mine, and have gotten several nice cards from him over the years. Was a blast to spend time chatting cards at his booth at the National this past summer. That Collector Focus gallery of his is one of my favorite ways to procrastinate when working, LOL.
Regarding the 62T he has, while the corner and edge wear are great and definitely what I am looking for, it's unfortunately not the right one for me. Love looking at Peter's '53T Mick. That is a very, very rare example, in the sense that one has to look at 6.5s and 7s to have good odds of seeing an example that nice-- hence why I asked him if it was for sale when he first showed us the pic! If only there were more like that one out there, wish I got lucky and found its twin. Having shopped around fairly extensively, I can say I did not see another card in the 5 or 6 realm as nice as that particular card. Great find. |

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mickey-Mantl...p2047675.l2557 Don't know if you ever even saw the PM as the PMs at CU seem to still have some issues. I haven't figured out how to send a PM here yet. Not very computer savy. I definitely understand when you say the 62 isn't right for you. Check out Luckiest Man Sportscards. He's gonna put me in the poor house. ![]() |
