Default 1960's era White Sox gamer

I (try to) narrow my collecting to '60's era Chisox gamers and unique memorabilia. The low budget White Sox recycled uniforms as much as or maybe more than any team that decade. Over the last four decades I've kept an eye peeled for all-original jerseys from that time period - to little avail. Fortunately, and very humbly, lucked out on this one earlier and recently framed it. It's a fantastic 1968 powder blue road (two year style) and all original (numbers, nob, tag etc).

If you have or know anyone that may have original White Sox gamers from the period and possibly interested in selling or trading, I'd sure like to hear from you.

Thank you
Bob

Default I am running out of wall

Got this great signature of Joe in the mail today. It is already in a frame, but I have no more wall space in the baseball room to hang it; so I think in the morning, it will hang in the hallway. G-friend giving me the raised eyebrow...'cause things are starting to spill out into the rest of the house...
Thanks to Dave for making the deal!!!!!

Default 1968 Pete Rose Road Jersey

Just my opinion, the prettiest and the toughest of the Reds post war uniforms to find in all original condition. From the year of Pete's first National League batting title and his first Sports Illustrated cover. Interesting that in 1968, "The Year of the Pitcher", Bob Gibson wins the NL MVP and NL CY, but the St. Louis based Sporting News names Rose the NL Player of the Year.

This one is off to Cincinnati as well..

Default Freshly back from the framer...

I recently picked up this vintage poster/color photo of Vander Meer that originated from the July 24th, 1938 NY Sunday News- New York's picture newspaper. The Sunday News produced several of these neat looking color pictures of key players of the day during the 1930's and 1940's.

I've always liked this image and finally found one in pretty remarkable shape.
I had it custom framed with a copy of an original snapshot that I own of the celebration that occurred after Vandy's 2nd consecutive no-hitter on June 15th, 1938- the 1st night game at Ebbets Field.

The caption below the image reads:
"Johnny Vander Meer, No-Hit King"
Below that it says:
"The Cincinnati southpaw's feat of pitching two consecutive no-hit games against Boston and Brooklyn set an all-time major league record. He is 23, 6 ft. tall, weighs 190 and calls Midland Park, NJ his home town."

Check it out...

Default Vandy

Scott,

Extremely well done. Colors are so rich an vibrant for what was largely a black and white world at the time.

That piece is awesome! I think it's really cool to find the newspaper type magazines and this one appears to be in remarkable shape.

Thanks for sharing...

I can't seem to get a decent picture but here's a similar piece from April 12, 1942.

Weekend swap meet pickups:

Indians programs 1968-72
1965 Atlanta Crackers ticket stubs
1981 Cleveland all star game bumper sticker
Late 80's/early 90's Visalia Oaks (A) bat

And less a find than a creation...one of my favorite baseball cards growing up was the 1962 Topps "Pride of the A's" card. Found a high res scan of it online, so I had it printed and mounted it poster size for the wall.

Default Circa 1910 Hockey Goalie Stick

Picked this beauty up. I have been looking for a long time for one of these wide on 1 side goalie sticks. Condition is very nice and has a "St marys wood specialty company" mark on it and another mark I can not make out.
