Question about color variations.

To me the only true color variations are scraps or cards that missed a color pass, like the Bates no red ink variations.

Otherwise to me the other variations are merely cards that didn't hold up well overtime due to being exposed to the sun or a chemical effect due to glue on the back of the card.

Am I right?

Although I do admit there does seem to be some consistency with many Hindus where the backgrounds are normally red but they are more an orange color when it comes to their Hindu back variety.

Default Sean....

I will be in AC 2016!
I plan on displaying "THE CIRCUS"...........

Nasti Nat.....

your are almost 100 % correct....a real dramatic color variations are usually SCRAPPY..........

Most other factory cuts are due to environment post printing(chemical, sun fade, ect)....

there are many boston players including Sweeney "NO B" which fall under the "missing magenta" category which are legit....

and there are some other factory cut cards which are legit missing a pass or 2....

so, the answer is....there is a"mix" of 100 % legit variations and environmentally "altered" variations....that's where an expert is of value

Somebody out there has a Tinker portrait with a yellow background. Not sure if it is a board member or not. Beautiful card.
