I'm more curious why the person on ebay is trying to sell it considering its up for auction somewhere else.

Great looking check. (though I will leave others to opine on authenticity). Maybe this seller is like the "wheretheyaint" seller and sells things he doesn't own, then when he sells them he goes and tries to buy them. Crazy idea to me...
