Thanks again for gifting me this snapshot of Gorby Smith.
I had to include it in my post!

Default My all-time favorite Cleveland Indian

One of the best pitchers ever to play the game IMHO.

Rapid Robert, the Heater from Van Meter. What a career, and he also served four years in the Navy during World War II. He became one of the premier ambassadors for the game. Glad I had the opportunity to see him a few times doing public appearances, signing for free and having fun with fans. Those experiences definitely increased my desire to learn more about baseball history.

I have always been fascinated by Feller's story. As a result I have a lot of Feller crap. These items are among my favorites

Default Sunday Newspaper Supplement

Cleveland Plain Dealer Sunday magazine supplement from July 22, 1962. The article inside details his child hood and the solid relationship with his father and family. This thread has brought out some very nice items on every post. The booklets shown by JLange are very special.

Default Great PD Sunday Magazine!

Yet another Bob Feller item I have never seen. It's amazing that your PD Sunday Magazine survived all those newspaper drives through the years. Very cool! Time to update my want list!

I believe he was the first HOFer and retired player I ever met in person. This was around 1984 at Pacific Trading Cards in Lynnwood, WA.
