For most sets I think everyone favorites are the top tier HOFers simply because of the who the player is, but for this set, the Cobb is by far favorite, followed by either Crawford, Collins, or Baker.

No offense but I never understood the hype over the Cobb. He looks like he is 15 and holding a child's bat. I have had one card from the set and it was this Lajoie. It has a dated stamp on the back which is neat and was more of a draw than the picture itself.

The Cobb D304 is just such a striking and charming image. Was the first Pre War card I ever bought. Was love at first sight with those colors and the personality in Cobb's eyes.
The Honus is kind of a sleeper cool pose and colors. Last edited by MattyC; 04-11-2015 at 06:22 PM. |

Not a favorite, just the only one that has made it into my collection.
Looks like Howdy Doody to me. Merkle in a base running pose, how ironic. ![]() |

Some like color, while others go for black n' white. Some prefer photo images, while others go for the cartoonish styles where some artistic liberties were taken a century ago. Diversity among our cards leads to widespread interest, and it's what makes the hobby go 'round. ![]() Maybe it's coincidence, but it's funny how many Cobb cards are a little weird, or cause differences of opinion in the hobby. You either love 'em or hate 'em... Cobb's T3, T205, D304, and T227, just to name a few. |
