I had submitted a private offer well within the reasonable range for this card before it was posted publicly and was spammed 50 times. Told him I wouldn't be interested if it was posted publicly.

what you mean spammed 50 times....they sent out your offer?

you don't have to say your offer but whats the range you think this card would sell for at auction

Yes it is very rare even the Ty Cobb back has more. Rob

There are 100+ rarer cards than the Red Cobb with the Lenox back -- rarity certainly doesn't correlate directly to value.

The only downside to putting it up for auction is the lack of control you have. Unless you plan on being a JC, you'll have to live with the result. You may want to keep trying for the best offer as the sale of the card means a lot to you.

True. However, a couple of auction houses have stated reserves which does stifle bidding but gives a certain amount of control to the consignor.
