The last 2 sold for 3200 and 3360. The one before that sold for 2800 is noticeably worse. I think the centering and top 2 corners will keep it from being a 5. He could send it to SCG and maybe get a bump to 4.5/55, but I don't see it being worth more than 3500-4000.

right you would think could do a direct deal in the mid 3000s at least...that a 1000 dollar difference on a card worth under 5000....sgc 4.5s aren't really valued at auction more than psa 4s .plus half grades don't occur often I would never count on getting a half grade .

I have been buying a lot of cards lately and you have to pay the prices if you want good stuff---I just purchased a T206 Green Cobb SGC 60 yesterday---I paid around $37-3800 since it was a package deal Also got a SGC 70 Red Cobb in the deal $6500 for the pair---I know we would all like to get cards at lower prices, but it just isn't happening---Most buying now is auction houses, shows, Collectors selling out---And if you are buying, stuff is not cheap. Thanks and lets keep buying.

Sure everyone would love to acquire the cards they want at "lower" prices.

That is not the issue here...the issue is the "correct" prices...if there is such a thing.

You're examples are case in point...you paid significantly less for much higher grade...even though a package deal...2 card package isn't really a big package!

the money total is a large package..so profit to the seller the same if 10 cards if total money the same etc.... so I understand why don is saying was a package deal..

I like to go by sales auction history ....also apples and oranges..is psa v sgc same grade..they just don't sell for the same in most cases in 2014+ in my experience......

Peter I am not saying my 2 card deal is a big package---but these small buys do add up when you do them all the time!!---Last year I purchased a 1952 Topps set with all the stars graded---trust me, it wasnt a small package deal----What I am saying, if you want good stuff, you have to pay the going rate or higher. I buy as a dealer and pay top dollar with a smaller magin when I sell---But If I want nice cards, I pay for them.

I certainly agree if u want quality...you have to pay for it...but in the grand scheme of things a green t206 cobb is pretty common...and they come up pretty often...and this price was unusually high...that's all.

Words of wisdom, right there.
The best cards are always in high demand and bring strong money. If you want them you pay for them. That is why we don't see them all of the time (because collectors keep them). Lot's of stuff circulates. Lot's of the best stuff doesn't.

I agree with donscards and Leon. Based on my experience, sometimes you just have to pay up to get the card you love! If it's truly a special card that you 'need' for one reason or another, you will not have regrets even if it means paying an extra 10% or so...
