Thanks Jeff. What does "strip card" mean? How were they distributed? Who manufactured them?

Adam, calling Adam.....
I believe strip cards were cards distributed in a long, single strip containing multiple cards that are often found cut apart into single cards (like the one you are showing). I think they were distributed by stores as giveaways and/or promotions but am not certain of this. They were popular in the 1910s and 1920s. jeff |

It's the same image. For anyone that's interested, I have one of these available for sale. PSA misclassified it as a W590 strip card instead of W580 but that's what it is. They also wouldn't give it a number grade (like SGC did) because it's hand cut.
![]() Total Pop of this card is 3 across PSA and SGC. Extremely rare item. jeff |

Jeff & John- It has always been my understanding that most/many strip cards were a product of the old penny scales that were on most streets across the country.
As a young boy back in the 1950s and 60s they were on our downtown streets, put a penny in, the scale would move and out would pop a photo of an actor or your fortune? Please don't take this as gospel but back in the 1970s in the hobby publications this was discussed quite often. |

W590 is a miscellaneous subject set that was issued in sheets. Here is a picture of a full sheet from another post:
![]() There were two printings, 1925 and 1931. There are variations/new cards on the 1931 sheets that help pin down the timing.
