I often hear this, and it is true when comparing cards in the same grade in the Post War space-- but the key issue is what grade the card will receive. Politics play a big role in PSA grading, as they seem intent on keeping pops down and prices of cards in their slabs up. Whereas if the card is truly deserving, I've found SGC will be fairer to the card. PSA loves to grade harshly and then get people hooked on review after review after review. It's smart business I guess and generates great revenue on those reviews.

Thus, while it is true that PSA slabs (except in the PreWar space) will often bring more than an SGC card of equal grade, in actuality one would prefer an SGC card in grade X to a PSA card in grade X-1. So if the card is very nice and SGC will make it a 7, I would take an SGC 7 over a PSA 6 all day every day, and in the PreWar space-- where the price gap is narrow or non-existent on many cards-- it's more of a no-brainer.

So equal grade comparison is one thing, but I'd take SGC in a grade higher for value and resale. Not to mention the SGC slab looks much better, at least to my taste. I've even been feeling like crossing my whole collection to SGC lately for that very reason. It's such a nice presentation.

I would also take this SGC 4 or the SGC 5 above over the PSA 6-- PSA tends to reward sharp corners at the cost of ugly centering.
