Truth. But are you looking to sell? Everyone has their preferences, I prefer SGC for my collection because if their quality and consistency.

I have found SGC to be competent in pricing. I have received offers on my SGC 96 OPC Gretzky as high as the PSA counterpart and refused.

Here is a picture of a PSA 6 that is up on ebay. And, here is a picture of a SGC 60 that is up on ebay (albeit with the error spelling). Which do you like better? (Sorry about the size difference.) I didn't take either picture, so I can't tell you about how they were scanned/shot or why the colors look so different. The SGC 50 is mine, and I like the way it looks framed in the black. I put both SGC cards up because the ebay one (the 60) has the newer flip.

Thanks for the input, guys. I think I will go with SGC. I will post the grade I get on the card. I also have a Sport Kings Gene Tunney in similar condition that I will send with the Greenberg. Thanks again.

If you plan on keeping them, then SGC is cool. If you EVER plan on selling it though, no offense, but SGC just does not get the bids that PSA does.

Thus, while it is true that PSA slabs (except in the PreWar space) will often bring more than an SGC card of equal grade, in actuality one would prefer an SGC card in grade X to a PSA card in grade X-1. So if the card is very nice and SGC will make it a 7, I would take an SGC 7 over a PSA 6 all day every day, and in the PreWar space-- where the price gap is narrow or non-existent on many cards-- it's more of a no-brainer. So equal grade comparison is one thing, but I'd take SGC in a grade higher for value and resale. Not to mention the SGC slab looks much better, at least to my taste. I've even been feeling like crossing my whole collection to SGC lately for that very reason. It's such a nice presentation. I would also take this SGC 4 or the SGC 5 above over the PSA 6-- PSA tends to reward sharp corners at the cost of ugly centering. Last edited by MattyC; 10-05-2014 at 09:04 PM. |

I took another look at my posting, and the last one by MattyC and note that it looks like SGC is a bit confused as to which is the error - Greenberg or Greenburg.

That's funny; yeah the 60 is mislabeled.
