This is ludicrous. The whole thread isnt about whether or not it's ok to make a mistake. This is about standing behind a guarantee that was part of the purchase price of a product that was bought.
The OP was getting screwed even though he had a "lifetime warranty" until he caused a ruckus...then suddenly he gets the service he deserved. Case friggin closed.
