The auction house may also have been confused by the Gehrig exhibit since the 1925, 1926, and 1927 all share the same image, but have different color tints (and a few other small things like how the player name is displayed on the card). The auction rep may have thought it was a 1927 Exhibits, which was the reason for the $1000 quote.
