The Lenox listed as the only graded black variation hit 11k, I believe it is the second known brown example, not sure if this is a good or bad thing for the buyer.

PSA 10 Ozzie Smith rookie went for only 5k vs a previous sale of 20k. The hobby is doomed.

The card did not sell for 5K, the slab did.

What a difference it makes when one buyer becomes a seller.

in incredible shape than you guys are making it out to be. I think 5 grand relative to what other PSA 10 rookies have sold for is not a bad price. I do think 20K was way to much.

agreed, those other PSA 10 rookies are way over-priced too.

Strong or weak prices vary from card to card, and also involve expectations that vary from buyer to buyer. But if I had to make a blanket generalization about monetary values, I'd agree with what Leon said. I see increasing amounts of collectors trusting their own eyes over a sticker grade based on technical and arbitrary grade definitions, as evinced by cards like the e90-1 Shoeless at Heritage.

I think the $20k was a Topps and this was an OPC. Still crazy prices for a 10.
