Happened upon this page from a book or something a few years back and it confirmed what I had long suspected... Gertenrich had used a picture of himself for the backs of his cards. Thus, even though Gertenrich never had a card made during his career any of the cards from his Candy Company could be viewed as a card of Lou himself if viewed from the back!

That is cool Rhett. I had heard that he incorporated himself into the cards but had never seen confirmation of it. Todd that is a beautiful example, I don't believe I've ever seen a Gertenrich without paper loss on the back.
