Default 1913 Spokane Pennant

Here's an oversized pennant which I believe to be related to the 1913 Spokane Indians Northwestern League team. I believe that it is baseball team related, as opposed to just a pennant promoting the city, in that the "sunburst S" is also present on the sleeves of 1913 Spokane baseball jerseys.
The RPPC below includes future HOFer Stan Covaleskie, future Black Sox player Swede Risberg, and Ten Million, of Obak fame.

That is beautiful! I'd have to agree that the sunburst definitely makes it a team pennant.

This LH batter is ubiquitous on Giants pennants....whether he is standing in front of the Golden Gate, a scroll, no background or whatever. Is this same silhouette used on other teams' pennants?

What?.....you don't remember the '65 Champions with "McCovery" on the team?

Default Victoria Rosebuds 1958-1960

Short lived team that produced some major leaguers. This pennant is 23 1/2 long.

Yes...

The Houston Astros used this Batter image alongside the Astrodome. Cleveland Indians also used the same Batter in their famous 1954 "Lopez Limited" Champions Pennant.
But it's most commonly seen on Giants Pennants, as you pointed out above.

"Our" lefty batter was seldom shown in a stadium. In this pennant he was. This is a fairly tough pennant....the stadium motif is common, but usually with a different LH batter.

There's some incredible looking pennants in this thread.I'm not a pennant guy,but I picked up this mini pennant (4" x 1 1/2" inch).I was hoping someone could tell me if this is a common mini-pennant.I believe it's from the mid 1940's.

Rob/All...

Have you ever seen this version of the "Lefty Batter"? His Bat is horizontal rather than vertical, and the GG Bridge is clearly different...

Chris and Mark - in Mike Egner's book, he shows four REDS pennants with the lefty batter - one from the 1950s; three from 1961. Do you guys have those in your collections? Pictures?

Oops... forgot about the Reds / Redlegs See below...

Also, Baltimore used a somewhat similar (but different) lefty batter on pennants from their earliest years...

My Giants pennant on page 14, the Red Sox on 15 and all of yours shown above have the same "script city; 3D team name" font. As I'm sure you guys know, this fonting is the one thing that exists across a TON of 50s-60s pennants. There are some other similarities that show up between teams and cities....I'm going to post some more Giants pennants and I'm sure you guys will have similars of other teams....maybe we can figure which pennants were produced nationally and which were produced locally.
