I posted this on the book thread, but I am very excited about it so I figured I would post here as well. I purchased the 1841 chapbook below for 20.00 at an antique shop Friday afternoon. Although the book is entirely about animals, there is a small illustration on the front cover of a boy swinging a bat (see below for a close up scan). This book becomes my oldest "baseball" related item, more than ten years before an 1852 newspaper I have that describes a game.

These chapbooks, or others very similar to mine, also by Babcock, were once offered for sale on the BST here for about 75.00 each (8 or 9 years ago?). I think a member found 10-20 of them. I regretted that I never purchased one, but now that regret is gone. I love antique shops!

Default 1963 Sandy Koufax Original Artwork

Great vintage pen and ink artwork piece found on ebay. Very tough to find these obsolete beauties from the past.

Great photo of Johnny V! It really captures the vastness of the field. It's easy to forget how big the field feels when you're on it.

Thanks Alex!
BTW, I had the same feeling when I first saw the photo. I also loved the fact that you got to see the other player's gloves left out on the field.
It really brings you back to a very different era in our history. Cool!

Thanks Scott and Phil. There were around 3000 people in attendance and from what I can tell 2000 or so were issued tickets. They charged for automobiles to park in the outfield but not sure if they were given a special ticket for that or not.

Great Koufax artwork too Phil!

Default Couple of new Williams pieces

Set out with a goal of filling my 2 yr old sons room in a hitters hall of fame motif, but it seems that Ty & Ted have taken up all of the real estate thus far...

Added the following this month
1-2 beater 1939-46 salutation exhibits including the tough 9 showing..
2- a very cool minneapolis (large) newspaper ad announcing the correct answers & the winners of the contest. Ted is in a 1938 Millers uniform and coincidentally was #9 in the contest!

1983 Keith Atherton game worn A's jersey. Oddly enough, I have his green jersey from 83 as well.
