I gotta admit, this is a subset of our hobby that I just don't get. These things would be in the trash the second I got my hands on them and I'd never look back.

I fail to see the charm in these.

I suppose that you don't care much for these either . I agree that it's an acquired taste.

That 78 Stanley is really cool. More than usual ink spatter, and it makes him look like a character from a chainsaw movie.

The massive overinkings with the matching card aren't at all easy to find unless they happened to be in the same box.

darkhorse9, I feel the same way about allegedly high grade cards in slabs.

The charms of the freaks and geeks are many-fold:

--They show something about the printing and cutting process
--They are unique, especially compared to the thousands of examples of the run of the mill card
--They are rare
--They are still remarkably inexpensive in postwar sets
