If somone is passionate about a particular player and pays more than what the rest of the general populace is willing to pay, why is that uncool?

How is that any different from any other item up for auction?

It's because other people might want that card for their sets or subsets and can't get it because the person has bought every one they could get their hands on. Same goes for the T206 Titus. Just uncool, I think, not that it isn't perfectly legal within their rights to do so, just that it is also within my rights to say what I think.

...all that says to me is that all those other people really don't want it as badly as they think they do. Have you read the other Net 54 thread about overpaying for a card?

Honestly, I would prefer not to say what I paid for them, but thank you for asking. What I will tell you is that the person was asking less than what I actually paid for them. I believe in paying a fair price and not taking someone for granted.
