Reason #2,373 i would never have made it back then. Being outside in the hot sun with no sunscreen on literally sounds like torture to me.

On a BBQ Forum that I am active on, pics of food cooked are referred to as "food pron".

This "pron" mispelling is intentional, and now mandated on the site because the correct spelling was used so frequently that the site started getting blocked by some company servers as somehting that it really wasn't.

As I've shared before, my wife calls Net54 and baseball card collecting in general the 'other woman'. So whenever I'm in my office or online, she says I'm with 'Baseball Card Girl'. It's all fun and games; she's never upset over it.

And for the record, as some of you may have read on my site, she's the main reason I got back into collecting. While I don't think she realized just how much I'd get back into it at the time, she's been supportive. She came to the spring Chantilly show with me, she looks at some of my cards when they come in the mail and will listen to me talk about a few cool pickups now and then. When I finished my T206 set, she overheard me telling a dealer that I wasn't sure what to collect next. So, she looked at his cards and picked out a few that she thought were 'neat' and suggested I collect them as well. While I didn't agree with her suggestion, I thought it was super cool she'd do that.

Even though I'm selling off a large portion of my collection to fund a new house purchase, she's not happy that I'm getting rid of them because she 'knows how much joy and happiness' they bring me.

While cards can be quite expensive, there are a lot worse ways you can spend your time!

The first year or so that I browsed N54, it served as a perfect "cover" for me to quickly switch tabs from eBay. My wife has never approved of the money I spend on cards.. But unlike jewelry, bags, electronics, or whatever else people may blow their money on, I always argue that I can get this back if need be. And, my card addiction was an existing condition when she met me.

By now, she recognizes the N54 page, but to her it's the lesser of two evils.. Being that I'm mostly just dorking out on cards here, versus buying them there.

... "What? BST? Shhhhhhh!"...

Sounds like you have a pretty cool wife. Just make sure that she doesn't find out that the T202s are considered "ice cold".

Funny enough, T202's are the only ones she thinks are really cool!

Along the same lines. I thought about using net54 the same way once, by switching tabs away from the actual porn. Only when it was too late, did I realize the fault in that plan. I ultimately had to let myself get caught with the porn. I figured it would be easier than trying to explain a boner while looking at a card site..

My wife is starting to come around too. She likes when I show her the pictures from the cool ways people display their collection posts. She gave me permission to have some in my "man cave" but will only allow it if I make and build the displays myself. She also says that I have to sell my "lame shiny cards" before I can buy anymore "old-timers". She's right again!

Giambi is 42 now (looks like the picture is from last year). Roids and HGH don't seem to make him look that much younger than the Wags photo. Along with the sunscreen comment, the contrast in B&W photography makes the wrinkles and "crows feet" more pronounced.

I have always thought the D381 cards are tough to look at, because the b/w photos make our heroes seem like a ragged bunch of drifters...nothing like a dose of reality to knock us upside the head when musing upon the great pastime.

Giambi is beginning to look like Nick Nolte:
