Not to be contrarian, but I think the image goes with the mount - just out west somewhere. Check out the catcher's mitt - probably early 1900's.

To all for your help. My thought was that the gloves suggested something other than the purported age. However, I think that it is a great image, and adding 10 years or so does nothing to take away from it. The owner suggested to me that a Cheyenne Wyoming photgrapher had dated it for him, authenticated it and actually tried to purchase it several years ago... Tim

Picked this up a few weeks ago. An original 1883 tournament poster.

Dell,
WOW. That is amazing. It's incredible that something that old could still have vibrant colors like that. Congrats. Mark

Dell, that's really a beautiful poster...congrats!
Not sure what compelled me to buy this but will make cool display pieces. I have no idea whether these are modern or not but do appear to have some age to them. |

Mike (71buc) led me to this ebay '62 wire photo of Bob Feller with his Dad's catchers mitt (now in my collection). I was able to match the two, which was a big relief given that the mitt was once in Halper's possession:

As a side note.... the vast majority of Halper's stuff was good. A very few of the more visible/noteworthy pieces were mis-represented, and those items have received all of the publicity/infamy. But those tainted uniforms/autographs actually represent a miniscule percentage of the overall Halper collection. Last edited by perezfan; 05-31-2013 at 02:40 PM. |

Circa 1865 CdV of 2 baseball games in progress. The reverse states that the image was from Topeka KS and that 2 games are being played. You need a magnifying glass to see the players clearly, but its all there. I've never seen a game action CdV from this period not originating from the northeast. Interesting and unusual. The railroad tracks in the foreground are a nice touch.
Sorry for the small scan. I'll try to make a larger one. Last edited by GaryPassamonte; 05-31-2013 at 03:30 PM. |

Nice CdV, Gary. Would love to see a close-up.
Scott- That Feller photo is an awesome match for your glove. |
