I don't believe it's just a perception, the increase in prices seems very real. Normally during the winter/off season prices decline a bit, making it easier for someone like me on a budget to buy the higher than average cards. That didn't occur this winter/off season. The prices actually went up, significantly in some cases.

Just my opinion. I could be wrong...

In my experience I have always felt like modern goes up during spring training and the 1st half of the season. 2nd half of the season through the playoffs is time for vintage to shine!! Just my opinion...

I have definitely seen some higher realized prices on many issues lately. This is not across the board. In fact it seems to me some 19th century stuff has brought reasonable prices lately. 1933-1967 has seemed to be hotter lately than it was for a long time.
