Wish I had seen this first, Seaver's RC in PSA 8 is a $1000 card: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1967-Topps-B...p2047675.l2557

I'm sure the eBay lister for Dave & Adam's is regretting his typo big-time, probably meant to list this card for a $1353.00 BIN, not $353.00.

One word of caution: More than once on Net54, a member has posted about a great deal he got on eBay the day before, only to fall victim soon after to having the seller cancel the transaction. At least in one of those instances, a member of the 54 "family" contacted the seller, made a higher offer and got the card.

I'm sure that would never, ever happen today. Nevertheless, some folks think it best to remain quiet about their pickups until they have them in hand.

I tend to agree with Rob...while this sounds like a fun idea....it can cause sellers to get pissed off...and could also potentially adversely affect resale of these "stolen" cards!!!

I'll quote my grandfather here, "Sometimes, things are best left unsaid".

Note: As I said, this would not be YOUR steal of the night but someone else's. I don't see the danger in that. Someone already posted someone's Seaver get.

Actually, Greg, the harm could be even greater. Say you get a great deal and I see it and post about it, not knowing you're the buyer. Another board member notifies the seller that he left a lot of money on the table and that perhaps he'd rather sell it outright for more? Through no fault of your own, you receive an email that the seller's dog ate the card and your money has been refunded.

That actually happened 'here' about ten years ago. A seller listed three BL 460 T206's and I was lucky enough to spot them. I bought two, contacted the seller and arranged to have them shipped immediately - all in the space of about an hour. Another board member bought the third, but was outed to the seller by a jealous board member. Things got ugly.

I'm sure it's happened more than once.

It's the reason why I normally don't post pickups til I have them in hand. I sometimes email with hobby friends about pickups and say "did you see this" or "can't believe I missed that". But I wouldn't do it on the board for fear of causing this kind of thing.

I can understand the reasons why this maybe shouldn't become a "new feature" of the board. I couldn't help but think of two recent "steals" I saw occur, neither of which will be affected by this outing.

The first is a 1915 CJ Zach Wheat card in PSA 7 that went fairly low. Oddly enough, this was a Probstein auction.

And this N172 Brown's Champions Arlie Latham puchased as a BIN by yours truly. Maybe not a steal, exactly, but a pretty good deal.

I lost an M116 Baltimore News card to a jealous board member when I BINed a card about 7-8 years ago and sent the payment immediately by PayPal. It does happen....
