If the phrase "T206" is in the title, there are no secrets on ebay....

Default At least one got a little under the radar.. right??

This one for $575 still sticks in my mind (not my card). Shouldn't it have brought quite a bit more? Based on current Goodwin prices it seems it should've.

Default piedy 42....

i spotted the joss as soon as it was listed....as you guys know i love 42's, i was in on the bidding also, sorry waz.....they are tuffer than thought of.....the joss was ugly, but in any cond a fact 42 is quite worth it, esp. hofer...if it were in the descrip, i think it wouldve hit $250.00 at least..

i always wonder about piedy 42's and ab 460's at the same factory desig......is there some correlation....both are tuf ass backs....

chance was a 1 k card at least....2k in goodwin i beleive

I still need a P42...as I have always said, I think they are tougher than some give them credit for. And concerning the one in the original post, nice card. Not beautiful but still a nice hole-filler.

That's what she said...the last sentence.

Leon, I'm sure you remember ten years ago when P42's were sort of a novelty. If you even cared to have one, all you had to do was keep your eyes peeled and one would eventually pop up on ebay, and for the same price as other Piedmonts. It's just a little number '42', but I do understand that has huge meaning for a back or type collector.

Hey Scott
Fortunately I was a general type back collector even back then. I got most of my 06 backs, as many members, when the times were better for getting them...here are a few examples...

schei ab460 vg-ex 70
moeller bl350 gd-vg 20
mcaleese cb vg-ex 70
geyer cyc460 vg 100
chase trphy lenox vg-ex 260
marquard br-hin gd 75

But no P42

.

I actually thought it was the opposite, most people didn't care because it was such a subtle difference, that there still could be tons of them out there sitting in collections and the owners don't even know.

As Scott said, they became popular awhile back and when I went through my cards and saw I didn't have one, I went on ebay and bid on the first two I saw that same day, won them both for a decent price. I know Johnny V stocked up on them quickly too.

They really went from very rare to coming out of the woodwork quick back then and the prices were reasonable, despite the new-found interest, likely because people collected brands not specific backs. They still pop up from time to time with no mention of the 42 back because as I said, lots of people still don't know.
