Up for your consideration is an exceedingly rare issue of the first ever Sports Illustrated magazine, published by Time Incorporated on August 16, 1954. The magazine features a cover photo of the Milwaukee Brewers’ Eddie Matthews at bat, as well as a color two-page spread of a boxing match between Ezzard Charles and Rocky Marciano.
While the magazine itself is collectible, any true collector knows that the real treasure is the tri-fold 1954 Topps baseball card centerfold insert. A beautiful example of one of the most coveted issues of any magazine on the market. $115
