You're still presupposing that what the auction house is now "on notice of" is something meaningful.

PSA graders are completely incompetent. They are throwing darts. How could it possibly matter which square a previous dart landed on?

By your logic why does it matter where the current dart landed? But obviously it does.

It's still there. You can clearly see it if you zoom in. Just another example of PSA's incompetence, grading this card as a 5 with a significant crease on front. If graded today, it would be a 3 (or an AA, a 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3.5, 4,or 4.5 depending on which grader you get and which day they get it, but the most frequent grade it would receive if submitted 100 times would be a 3).

It doesn't. That's why people say "buy the card, not the holder". It's also why 4s sometimes outsell 6s in the same auction. A card's current slab is just that. Only a fool buys a card based on the number on its slab. It is at best a starting point.

There are an awful lot of fools out there then, starting with the set registry.

Yes… roughly 90% of the hobby, unfortunately.

Heck yes. And if it weren’t for the bloody new image size limits on the site, I’d post some pics.

Yes, there certainly are. And there are no greater fools in this hobby than those who compete on the set registry.

Reminds me of the vintage Topps card I bought raw from Greg Morris last year as an "EXMT" card for about $50. It looked pretty good when it arrived though, so I sent it to PSA expecting a 7 but it came back in a 9 holder (pop 12 with none higher). Lol. I had no interest in owning a 9 though, so I bought another copy in similar condition for another $50 and sent the PSA 9 back to Greg Morris where some clown paid almost $5k for it because they just had to pip up the ranks on their registry. But like every other card in their collection, they just paid $5k for an over graded $50 card that was graded by an incompetent noobie grader at PSA.

There aren't bloody new image limits. Post pics that aren't HUGE and you will be fine. Otherwise, they won't work. Maybe invest in MS Paint (which is free, I think)....and downsize them before posting.

As to the original issue, it's all on PSA. I don't blame any company from selling an idiotic holdered card. It's not their responsibility to grade, only to sell. As we routinely see, holders sell!

I guess this is a sorry referendum on how well my jokes are received around here.

I make a snide comment about the size of my…endowment, and the only response is a rebuke from the administrator for being insufficiently tech savvy!

If it's any consolation I got it.

To be fair, it is 2024. The are numerous forum software tools that make uploading images from mobile devices extremely simple. I know I've mentioned it before, but I highly suggest looking into Xenforo. You can migrate everything over to a test server without disrupting the site at all. You'd honestly be amazed and how great and easy to use the software is.

My apology. I hadn't read the comment above yours when I responded. Yes, I would need an 11 x 14 inch scanner (*not)....and the images wouldn't fit.

I think it's funny how many people attack PSA, but everybody who sells cards ungraded has their own idea of what their cards grade. Buy two ungraded cards from two different dealers graded exactly the same by that seller and you'll get two cards that are actually completely different grades. PSA offers an opinion just like everybody who sells an upgraded card offers an opinion, it's up to the buyer to study the card before buying it to see if it matches the condition stated.

I guess the difference is that PSA is charging for their opinion so people expect them to meet a higher standard for the service they are providing, but you're right, people should look at the card not just the grade and decide for themselves if they agree with it or not.
