I couldn't wait to share!
Picked up two awesome pieces for my Yankees collection. First, picked up a Joe Torre 2004 All-Star jersey (I think he wore it)! And one of my all time favorite pickups, a Hideki Matsui gamer! The bat required some help, so this weekend, my buddy and I (mostly him, because I am not actually handy) did some "surgery" and I think it came out great! It was like Christmas at my house!!!!!!! |

Lookit this beauty!
![]() A buddy of mine came over today and I had a pin for him that I paid $54 for...he had some "trade bait"...he pushed one item out...."I paid $20 for this"....another item..."$5 for this"...etc....when he got up to $45 he said "take this off my hands and we'll call it good." The provenance is impeccable...it came from Dick Dobbins, who was the first guy to buy equipment from the SF Giants. They really hooked up the trainer, huh? I can just picture it, full of athletic tape, Ben-Gay and greenies. ![]()

Not sure if anyone here remembers that, and not sure if it was done as a "craft project" or with the specific intent to deceive. Fuzzy memory on the details, but it did actually happen. |

Yes I remember that well! It was one of the reasons(there were more) I had a big falling out with Paul Muchinsky as it was his, and is the very one pictured in his book # X11 with the pin sticking out the back. And I do believe I let Rob have it for putting it up in one of his auctions with "That creative description" Both knowing full well that there was NO Such Animal! But hey money talks! I do know the item was bought and the winner put a period piece of mirror back in it and it has since been resold.... Might even be the one that Bob bought! ![]() ![]()

Thanks Al...
Interesting that the winning bidder transformed it back into a Mirror. Do you recall whether the "Pinback version" sold for more or less than normal market value? They really hyped it as being a unique piece. Yours is a tremendous example BTW.... perhaps the nicest I've seen. And that ensemble you pictured is drool-worthy! ![]() Last edited by perezfan; 04-03-2019 at 02:42 PM. |

I usually post on the baseball card side, but I just picked up an intriguing one-of-a-kind (hopefully) photo of Hank Aaron. It's glued onto a scrapbook page, so I may never know what markings, if any, are on the back. I also have just a modicum of info from the seller.
The seller believes the photo to be from 1954 and even suggested that it might have come directly from Hank Aaron. The seller did not purport the signature to be that of Hank Aaron but rather saw it as a caption put there by the scrap-booker. I may never know exactly what this is, but I do feel confident that it's a pretty unique and attractive early snapshot of the Hammer, definitely better than what I would have pulled off had I had my camera in hand on the same occasion. I'll happily entertain any opinions from those of you more knowledgeable about this sort of thing. The only professional opinion I got prior to purchase was from a Milwaukee historian who ascertained that this is indeed Milwaukee County Stadium in the background. AARON.jpg

Picked these stadium flags up at the flea market this morning. Huge flags measure about 50x70. I was thinking these could of been from Wrigley field in the 90s but not sure.

Can't imagine where they came from but they don't look of high enough quality to withstand the Wrigley winds. I have an SF flag from Wrigley that is much more heavy duty.

Very happy to add this 1952 Ruth Richard AAGPBL players copy of her contract to my Rockford Peaches collection. This is the second 52 contract that I now have.. .....never thought I would ever even own one...let alone two...especially from the same year. The title word "ALL" was discontinued for the 1952 season and the league was now referred to simply as the AMERICAN GIRLS BASEBALL LEAGUE so this contract was printed sometime earlier. They then just darkened out the word "ALL" for use in upcoming years....Both of my contracts are done exactly the same way. Richard was a star catcher for the Peaches for many years.

1960s Roberto Clemente GU Adirondack Bat. I bought the bat and it was in rough shape so I sent it off to get touched up. Usually I don't like restoring my bats but I felt that this was the best option to bring the bat back to life. I posted some before pictures of the bat.

I recently picked up this 11X14 photo taken September 27, 1970 when the Bucs clinched the East. I think it's a cool photo and its size makes it a bit unusual.

Just picked up an odd item. These are cufflinks with an insert of a smaller version of the 1929 Cubs pin featuring the two bears. I have included the pin to show the difference in size. I bought these from someone who deals in jewelry and not sports memorabilia. They believe they were made in the 1970s and are not from 1929. Anyone seen these before or anything like this?
