AUTOGRAPHS RECENT ACQUISITIONS
100) GEORGE "SNUFFY" STIRNWEISS Full page handwritten letter with original mailing envelope. The finest Stirnweiss item I have ever offered. Letter is written entirely in his own hand on New York Yankees letter head measures 8 1/2 x 11. Comes with original mailing envelope postmarked August 1948 which is also signed on the return address portion. But that's not all , comes with an original unsigned "Brace" 8x10 photo of Stirnweiss in Yankees uniform. Fantastic content to the letter he writes "Dear Howard , Thank you for your kind letter I am sorry I can't forward any of the articles requested perhaps this letter will act as a substitute , again many thanks for your letter Best Wishes GEORGE STIRNWEISS , P.S. The coin you enclosed I dropped into the church basket along with my contribution Sunday , Good Luck" A standout football halfback in college he was originally signed to play NFL football but instead chose to play baseball signing with the Yankees 1943-50, Also played for the 1950 Browns , 1951-52 Cleveland he won the 1945 Batting title. Known for his speed both in football and baseball it would ironically contribute to his untimely death at age 39 in 1958. After retiring from baseball he worked in New York as a banker cummuting by train from his home in New Jersey. He was being driven to catch his train one day by his wife and was running late , the train had already pulled out of the railway station. He ran at full speed and was able to catch the train and climb on board , several minutes later the train plunged off of the bridge connecting NJ to NY killing most of those aboard. $350.00
101) MIKE MILOSEVICH cut signature from an album page attached to a 3x5 index card. Originates from the Bob Duvall collection. Comes with an unsigned 8x10 original "Brace" photo of Milosevich in Yankees uniform. One of the toughest autographs of all 1940's Yankees players he only played two years 1944-45 and died in 1966, RARE ! $350.00
102) CHARLEY STANCEU 3x5 index card signed in ball point comes with an unsigned 8x10 original "Brace" photo of Stanceu in Yankees uniform for display. A far tougher autograph to find than his date of death would indicate he played for the 1941 and 1946 Yankees and finished his brief career with the Phillies in 1946. He died in 1969. $250.00
103) JOE PAGE color magazine photo pictured in Yankees uniform and signed in ball point on the light portion. Has been attached to 5 x 7 1/2 heavy stock paper. One of baseball's first great relief "Closers" and bullpen stoppers he was a three time all star pitching for the 1944-50 Yankees and 1954 Pirates he died in 1980. $100.00
104) BILL DRESCHER Vintage fountain pen signature from document attached to a 3x5 index card. Comes with an original unsigned 8x10 "Brace" photo pictured in Yankees uniform. A catcher for the 1944-46 Yankees he died in 1968. $150.00
105) BILLY MARTIN 1973 Detroit Tigers roster page measures 5 x 7 1/2. Signed and inscribed "To Carl Best Wishes BILLY MARTIN" Signed in 1973 when Martin was the Tigers manager. Comes with an unsigned 8x10 original "Brace" photo of a young Martin in Yankees uniform. Both as a player and manager Martin gave it his all. A member of the 1956 All Star team and numerous Yankees champions he is best remembered for his accomplishments as manager mostly with the Yankees which will surely one day earn him Hall of Fame status he died in an auto accident in 1989. $100.00
106) DERON JOHNSON Reds team issue 1960's photo measures 5x7. Comes with an unsigned original "Brace" 8x10 photo pictured in Yankees uniform. Included is an auction LOA from JSA Played for numerous teams from 1960-1976 he is best remembered as one of the toughest autographs from the fabled 1961 World Champion New York Yankees team he died in 1992. $100.00
107) FRANK COLMAN 3x5 signed boldly in pencil originates from the Wingler collection. Comes with an unsigned original "Brace" photo in Yankees uniform. 1942-46 Pirates and 1946-47 Yankees he died in 1983. $100.00
108) JERRY PRIDDY "Rowe" postcard photo pictured in Yankees uniform signed boldly in ball point. Comes with an unsigned original "Brace" 8x10 photo in Yankees uniform. One of the best defensive 2nd baseman of his era he played from 1941-53 for the Yankees, Senators, Browns, Tigers after his baseball career he was arrested in 1973 in a bizarre extortion plot and served 9 months in prison. He died in 1980. $75.00
109) KEN "ZIGGY" SEARS Vintage autographed 3x5 signed in fountain pen. Originates from the Henry West collection. Comes with an unsigned 8x10 "Brace" photo of Sears pictured in Yankees uniform. Catcher for the 1943 Yankees and 1946 Browns he died in 1968. $150.00
110) MEL QUEEN SR. 3x5 index card signed and inscribed "To Jeff" comes with an original unsigned 8x10 "Brace" photo of Queen pictured in Yankees uniform. Pitcher for the 1942, 1944, 1946-47 Yankees and the 1947-52 Pirates he died in 1982. $75.00
111) ART JORGENS 3x5 signed and has also written "Catcher , N.Y. Yankees 1929-1940" Comes with an unsigned original "Brace" 8x10 photo of Jorgens pictured in Yankees uniform. He died in 1980. $50.00
112) HUB PRUETT 3x5 index card , a pitcher 1922-24 for the Browns , Phillies , Giants and Boston. His main claim to fame was a knack for getting Babe Ruth out and was often called upon in clutch situations to pitch to Ruth. He was able to put himself through medical school and years later the Babe often remarked that he was the one who paid for his college education as his unremarkable career in the Major Leagues would have been far shorter were in not for his uncanny ability to be the one pitcher that Babe simply could not hit, Pruett died in 1982. $150.00
113) JIM PISONI Signed certified mail postal reciept dated 7/15/05. Pisoni was the last player to debut in a Browns uniform in 1953, he also played for the 1956-57 Athletics and 1959 Braves but is best remembered as one of the toughest autographs from the 1959-1960 Yankees. A notorious non-signer he had to be "tricked" into signing as evidenced by this postal mail receipt. He died in 2007. Extremely rare !!! $275.00
114) SATCHEL PAIGE 8x10 photo pictured in St. Louis Browns uniform. There is a facsimile signature on the photo and Paige has signed nicely in ball point on the light area. Considered to be one of the greatest pitchers in the history of the Negro Leagues he also pitched in the majors later in his life for the 1948-53 Browns and Cleveland and again in 1965 for the A's. Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1971 he died in 1982. $250.00
115) SATCHEL PAIGE 3X5 index card signed on the lined side in ball point. Considered to be one of the greatest pitchers in the history of the Negro Leagues he also pitched in the majors later in his life for the 1948-53 Browns and Cleveland and again in 1965 for the A's. 116) HARRY R. "CY" MORGAN Vintage 3x5 signed and dated Nov 16th , 1950 on the lined side and has also included a long handwritten note, He was being hospitalized at the time and writes "St. Vincent Hospital , 7th St and 11th Ave, New York City...Dear Robert the pleasure is all mine to autograph this card for you. Your sincere friend HARRY R. "CY" MORGAN" Home address as follows 601 West 139th st. NY, NY , Good Luck Buddy" EXTREMELY RARE Autograph and one of very few if any in existance , Morgan was a pitcher for the early Browns 1903-05 & 1907 and the Red Sox in 1907-09, Athletics 1909-1912 and Reds in 1913. Best remembered for helping the Athletics win back to back World Championships in 1910 & 1911. On June 28th , 1962 he killed himself by cutting his throat with a razor RARE !!! $450.00
117) EDWARD MURRAY signed return address portion of an envelope. Played in only ONE major league game in 1917 for the St. Louis Browns he died in 1970. $75.00
118) HENRY "BILL" NORMAN signed return address portion of an envelope attached to a 3x5. Norman played for the 1931-32 White Sox he died in 1962. $50.00
119) BAD BILL MIZEUR signature from a personal check attached to a 3x5 index card. 1923-24 Browns , Died-1976. $50.00
120) HEINIE MEINE 4x6 Original "Burke" photo inscribed as follows "Kiyoshi , Best Wishes to you HEINIE MEINE" Comes with an auction LOA from JSA. Interesting in that it is inscribed to Japanese Hall of Fame member Kiyoshi Miyahara , Meine is pictured in Pirates uniform he was a pitcher for the 1922 Browns and 1929-34 Pirates. Fabulous Burke photo heavy stock with mat finish. Original collectors notes in pencil on the reverse along with the famous "Burke" studios stamp. Died-1968. $100.00
121) WILLIAM McALLESTER Vintage 3x5 signed twice , has also written "Catcher St Louis Americans" He played only one season in the major leagues in 1913 for the Browns Very tough autograph he died in 1970. $150.00
122) LEO FOHL Vintage 3x5 signed in fountain pen. Played for the 1902 Pirates and 1903 Reds, he was manager for the 1915-19 Indians, 1921-23 Browns, 1924-26 Red Sox he died in 1965. $100.00
123) ED PFEFFER Vintage 3x5 signed in fountain pen. Pitcher for 1911 Browns, 1913-21 Brooklyn, 1921-24 Cardinals, 1924 Pirates. He gave up Rogers Hornsby's first major league home run. Died-1972 $75.00
124) CLYDE MANION 3x5 signed on the lined side. Catcher for the Tigers 1920-27, Browns 1928-30 and Reds 1932-34 he died in 1967. $50.00
125) ROLLA MAPEL Signature from a check attached to a 3x5 , originates from the Bob Duvall collection. RARE autograph ! Pitched in only 4 games for the Browns in 1919 , Died-1966 $150.00
126) FRITZ MAISEL 3x5 index card. Brother of George Maisel , he played for the 1913-17 Yankees and 1918 Browns he died in 1967. $75.00
127) GEORGE MAISEL 3x5 index card , Brother of Fritz Maisel , Played for the 1913 Browns , 1916 Tigers , 1921-22 Cubs he died in 1968. $75.00

129) DUKE MARKELL 3x5 index card , played portion of one Major League season in 1951 for the Browns he died in 1984. $50.00
130) DANIEL TOPPING & DEL WEBB Individual 3x5 index cards each signed on the lined side , The Del Webb is inscribed. Yankees co-owners who helped build the Yankees "Dynasty" teams. Both men died in 1974. Selling as a pair for $250.00
131) FRANK FOREMAN Vintage 3x5 index card signed in fountain pen on the lined side 19th Century pitcher begining in 1884-1902 for the Baltimore Orioles, Reds, Giants, Boston Americans and others. Discovered Hall of Fame pitcher Eddie Plank. Foreman died in 1957. $175.00
132) ROLLIE ZEIDER 3x5 signed on the lined side has also written "White Sox, Cubs, NY Highlanders" Played for the White Sox from 1910-13, Yankees 1913, 1914-15 Federal League and 1916-18 Cubs. He died in 1967. $100.00
133) HOOKS WILTSE 3x5 signed in fountain pen dated Sept 12th, 1964 and has also written "NY Giants 1904-1915" Pitcher combined with team mate Christy Mathewson to form one of the greatest lefty/rightie duos of all time Pitched a no-hitter in 1908 with one hit batsman being the only difference between a no-hitter and a perfect game he died in 1959. $175.00
134) PETE GRAY 8x10 photo pictured in St Louis Browns uniform. Comes with the original return envelope and a copy of the Fan's letter written to Gray requesting his autograph. Gray had only one arm and played in 77 major league games for the St Louis Browns in 1944. A movie was made about his life. He died in 2002. $50.00
135) COLORADO ROCKIES 8X10 SIGNED BY FOUR Pictured and signed by all four Rockies Star Players TODD HELTON, DERRICK GIBSON, TERRY JONES, NEIFI PEREZ. All autographs were obtained IN-PERSON by a Rockies season ticket holder. Color photo of all four pictured in Rockies uniform. $100.00
