Ok. I'm about to send in cards to their crossover service. They are all T206 cards that should get a qualifier from PSA.
I have 4 BVG 3s (Frank Chance batting, Frank chance red, ed reulbach glove showing, george brown chicago). They are all extremely sharp, and are the ones with 3 numbers on the top of the back written in blue ink. Those are the only marks on them. In other words, they SHOULD come back as at least PSA 5 MK. The Reulbach should be a 6 MK. The last one is an SGC 60 Harry Steinfeldt with bat (SC Fact 42 OP) that is as sharp as a 7 at the very least, and probably an 8. It's completely off center to the right, and tilted to boot. Extremely clean, snow white borders, with no stains no marks. Should be PSA 7 MC. My question is: should I use the crossover service? or should I crack them and send them in? I feel like they may be snobby to crossover cards, and use it as an opportunity to show how tough graders they are. I'm basically looking for people who have had good experiences or bad experiences with PSA's crossover service. Thanks in advance! Ya'll are awesome.

If you crack out the cards, then after you receive your new slabs from PSA- let the other company know about the certs that you cracked out so they can adjust thier pop reports accordingly. Otherwise, the "crack and resub" process ruins the pop report for everyone.

I'm sure it will seem like a stupid question but, here goes anyway................
how do you crack the slab without damaging the card. I've acquired some cards through the years, graded by some no-name companies and would greatly prefer them raw. How can I do this safely? |

Hahaha - not a stupid question.
If there is a perfect way to do it, I am not the one who knows. Today was my first time I've ever done it. I took a chisel or a flat head and a hammer, and worked my way around. Pieces of plastic were shooting all over the place. Once it was destroyed enough, I pryed it open... Needless to say, I'm sure there is a better way...

Hahahahaha
I had goggles on, a sledge hammer, 2 different sized chisels, and pieces were flying all over the place. The BVG holders are ridiculous. Quote:

It's getting crazy hard to get good grades from SGC. However, I just sent a card in a PSA holder to SGC to switch holders and SGC gave me the same grade. Becket might be different.
Good luck. Mike |

Table saw. By the time the blade stops turning, I've got the top with the tag from the grading company on one side of the blade, and two pieces of plastic with a card just resting between them on the other. Less than 15 seconds.

I've only cracked cards out of PSA holders, but I've found that scissors work best for me. On the side of the holder you will see a small indention between the front and back of the slab. I take the sharp edge of a scissor blade, stick it in between the front/back of the slab, and twist. The front and the back seperate easily every time....no safety glasses required.

I'd like to dispel the myth that PSA adjusts the pop report when you return their labels. I have sent several back to PSA over the years and no adjustment has been made. The labels were from cards that were not plentiful, therefore I could tell if they adjusted the number. I'm not sure about SGC, but PSA apparently has no one assigned to perform this task, nor do they really care about these numbers.

As for the Beckett holders....I had to resort to C4 explosives to crack the case!
On a serious note...has anyone seen or heard of counterfeit PSA holders and/or flips? |

Update: Slightly disappointed, but all in all - I think it's fair.
GOOD 2 MK 1909-1911 T206 PIEDMONT FRANK CHANCE PORTRAIT-RED ***Must just be ignorant to some of PSA's grading style... There is a pencil mark on the front of the card, near the right side of the face, but there is nothing else wrong with the card. It was originally BVG 3. I thought it would be 5 MK. Is it a 2 because the MK was on the front? EXCELLENT 5 MK 1909-1911 T206 SWEET CAPORAL ED REULBACH GLOVE SHOWING ***Accurate VERY GOOD-EXCELLENT 4 MK 1909-1911 T206 PIEDMONT FRANK CHANCE BATTING ***Accurate, though I thought it should have came back as a 5 MK. VERY GOOD-EXCELLENT 4 1909-1911 T206 SWEET CAPORAL HARRY STEINFELDT WITH BAT ***I guess I was incorrect about their process. They must have marked off for it being OC, and not MC. Is this what they do? They don't give a qualifier to OC, only MC? It's at least a 6 with regard to corners and cleanliness of the card. VERY GOOD-EXCELLENT 4 1909-1911 T206 PIEDMONT ED REULBACH GLOVE SHOWING ***This was an SGC 30, so I'm happy with this...*** EXCELLENT 5 MK 1909-1911 T206 SWEET CAPORAL GEORGE BROWN BROWNE, CHICAGO ***Accurate.
