Link to graded cards (T206's, N172's, T201's)
Link to Central Mass Auctions Wbsite for Live auction https://www.liveauctioneers.com/cata...1&pageSize=120 Hello, my name is Jeff Weisenberg of National Card Investors. I have been on Net54 since 2009. I have been in the sports cards and collectibles business since my days at Rotman Collectibles in 1978. I love this site and feel it is a great connection between collectors, dealers and a combination of both. Over the years I have been able to have purchased some incredible things. I am not sure anything will compare to the last few weeks. 3 weeks ago (During national week) I along with my partners Boca Cards and National Artifacts purchased an original owner collection of 1000+ T206's. This incredible collection included 16! Ty Cobbs, 16 Nap Lajoie’s, 150 Hall of Famers, 60+ Old Mill Southern Leaguers and the Magie error. The entire collection was graded by SGC and is now in the hands of Heritage Auctions as they will be auctioning it for us. As amazing as that was, just 2 weeks later, a friend that runs auctions on live auctioneers stopped in my office. I help him whenever he gets sports cards and memorabilia with authenticating and lotting the cards. He pulls out a binder that has 250+ T206's and some N172 Old Judges. As I flip the 1st page I notice 2 T206's with Carolina Brights Backs. My mind is now spinning! I just started looking at these cards and already found 2. It turns out there are 54! new to the market Carolina Brights cards. Amazingly 1 of them is a Cobb which was graded today at 1.5 by PSA! Also included were Hall of Famers Bender pitching with trees, Bresnahan with bat, Chance portrait, Eddie Collins, Tris Speaker and Christy Mathewson with dark cap. The rest were commons with some incredibly Low pops! This collection is currently being graded by PSA and I should have grades by the end of the week. These cards will be sold by Central Mass Auctions in the very near future. Along with the incredible T206's Carolina Brights were some amazing Old Judges. All of the Old Judges had 4 pin holes in each (the corners) yet still presented very well in terms of image. Amongst them are John Clarkson End of Pitch, R/Arm Extended, L/Hand on thigh, John Clarkson Bat at ready over R/Shoulder, King Kelly Portrait, Bare head, Chicago on shirt. All of these are at PSA as well. I will update all of the Net54 members as I get more information. Please feel free to email me with any questions. I will state that NONE of these cards will be for sale privately. All must and will go to auction. Dang; this was a National for the ages. Combine that with the Goldin T206 find and there will be a lot of "fresh to market" goodies coming out soon.
Is it possible they were two parts of the same collection? Maybe split up by heirs long ago?

It will be interesting to see if there are any new previously unknown CB cards or any other cards that can be added to the T206 master list. Looking forward to seeing what gets listed.

Nice Green Cobb cards. I like that they are all Piedmont 150...which definitely points to an original collection, as well as that collector being a very loyal smoker.

Congrats, thanks for sharing the amazing finds.
Full list of OJs would be greatly appreciated. You listed some interesting HOFers but the true scarcities are what really excite the advanced collectors. Thank you and again congrats !

Seems like the entire 1K batch from the original collection is 150-only and 150/350 subjects, which if true not only points to a single source but 1909 acquisition (I am assuming that all of the 150/350 cards in the 1K batch have 150 backs like the Green Cobbs). Interesting that the SLers are Old Mill; that hints at introduction of the Old Mill Southern back in 1909 which is earlier than I thought.

Thank you for the share. At first glance, these could all be early OJs, 1886-1887. Do they all have the "Old Judge Cigarettes" flying hot dog? While these players are not difficult in comparison to other OJs (exception for the Orr Spotted Tie), there were some later year re-issues that are very tough. For example, Gilligan in 1887 with Washington is common, but 1888 re-issue with Detroit is near impossible. I'm anxious to see them hit the auction block and good luck!

How is the Chance altered? Obviously an original collection, yet someone altered the card? Even if it was altered, one can assume it wasn't done for monetary gain.

I agree. I do not understand how when a grading company receives 50+ original very rare cards they do not justify how they believe the card was altered. I would love to know as well. Jeff W

Yeah...the Chance is garbage...don't bother bidding on it, b/c with the dreaded "A" designation it's essentially worthless. I'd be willing to take one for the team and bid on it, just so others don't have to.

If T206 was some kind of oddball set, maybe you'd understand them not knowing every detail. But we are talking about one of the most important sets in the hobby, and one they've graded more than a quarter million cards for. Edit > the Bres With Bat also looks short top to bottom and it too was graded A.

Thanks Jeff . . . as speculated, all 1887 OJs (possible 1886 in case of Orr spotted tie). Not a single 1888, 1889, or 1890 card. Seems as though the OJs are an original collection as well from a collector who smoked OJ brand in 1887.
