Default does this look like Ruth?

Posted By: Alan Elefson

Hi-
First of all, I would like to thank everyone for their help concerning the Dimaggio tattoo that I posted about a few weeks ago. I am still sifting through information on this issue, but I have learned a few things which I will add to my Dimaggio post. One interesting thing is that they were possibly manufactured by Comic Gum company.
Second, I recently aquired several tattoos from the same source. Please see the scan for a better view. The tattoo features a fairly generic baseball player finishing a swing with the words New York at the top and Yankees at the bottom. Does it look like Ruth? It is probably just a generic Yankees tattoo, but I thought I would solicit opinions. Also, please excuse the other tattoo in the scan as they are part of a group stapled to a backing, and I have not yet attempted to remove them.
Thank you,
Alan Elefsonhttp://www.network54.com/Realm/tmp/1135139894.JPG

Looks like just a generic ball player. Looks way too fit and young to be Ruth.

Alan,

I don't ever recall seeing Ruth in a bikini, but who knows?

The one on the right might be a "babe".

If some of our little cards are supposed to look like the players they depict this could be Ruth....we've had this discussion before. Does it look like him? No, but then again a lot our caramel and other cards don't look like who they are supposed to be too. Since Ruth and Dimaggio were arguably two of the best Yankees ever (I ain't forgettin' ya' Lou) this "might" have been made to be him...Personally I think the other babe pictured is kind of hot....regards

I have taken the image and reversed it to show how the tattoo would appear if placed on someone's arm. The batter is right-handed. Ruth was left-handed.

Hey Brad,
You're obviously right (pun intended). It still would not surprise me if we find, in the future, that this was supposed to depict Ruth. I have seen worse....

It's not as if the maker was overly worried about accuracy, with the bright red stripe down the leg and shirt and a bright red cap for a Yankees uniform. I agree that, if any Hall of Famer, it's Ted Williams. Ted married a fashion model, so perhaps this is Ted and his wife.
