If you could clone any player nine times to form a team, I would clone 9 Ruths and match 'em up against 9 Cobbs, and I would clobber you. I would, of course, have the distinct advantage of having a pretty decent pitcher at my disposal (and 8 not-too-shabby relievers). But even if you want to discount Ruth the pitcher, I would take 8 Ruths and any given pitcher, vs 8 Cobbs and the same pitcher. I would still clobber you (or so I believe). Maybe its weird logic, but that's the way I see it. (By the way, the pitcher I would take would be Lefty Grove, but that's another thread).

I was just trying to respond to the greatest player thread when I inadvertanly started a new thread. I'm sorry if I offended the sensibilities of this forum. No malice was intended, I assure you. Baseball is supposed to be fun.

Wouldn't Cobb run circles around that lumbering big guy on the three out of every four days he did not hit a homerun?

Me and my nine Jose Offermans will meet your challenge any place, any time. We will play anyone but the nine Bruces. We know when we're outmatched.
