Great card! I gotta admit though that I didn't think you could get an 8.5 with the back centering like that. Regardless, it is a great item. |

I see SGC has put a "provenance" label on it, just like Lionel Carter! This must be a great collection. I feel kind of privileged to have witnessed the development of the Skydash saga from his first post asking for the name of a good appraiser to this post. I can't wait to see what other cards will be coming next. |

I wonder if we on the Board are the only ones who know the owner as Skydash? If so that's quite a tribute to those here who helped him out with the collection. |

is all I can say...........this card will sell for a small to medium midwest house type price I'd say........just a beautiful piece. Was great seeing everything unfold for 'SKYDASH'. I talked with him on the phone for about 45 minutes one day and would say he's a genuinely great guy. Hope this all works out for him and his family. |

Eric, I agree with your theory concerning anonymity but I think it is kind of odd to have "Skydash Collection" instead of "Barney Thomas Collection" since only 54ers know him as skydash. It would be different if he were known around the hobby as skydash but the guy is pretty anonymous, don't you think? |

I appreciate all the responses. Barry,I agree with your observation. The naming of the collection was done with mixed feelings. The reason behind it has to due with a desire to remain totally anonymous. I would have much rather named it after the individual I got them from, but that wasn't my call. So....."Skydash" it is. I hope more pictures are posted as well. |

Since Skydash's father in law or grandfather or something put together the collection, they should have pedigreed them with his name. |

"Skydash" has a nice screenplay ring to it. It could start with the Thorpe sitting on a pile of trash (if I remember the story correctly - at a dump site?). Sunrise barely on the horizon. Cue music (Neil Young would be cool). Close up Thorpe. Twinkle Thorpe's eye with computer animation. Roll opening credits.... How much for the rights sky? |

Does anyone know why this card is so incredibly rare? I know the overall set is very tough, but this card in particular is impossible. Even if there were only 10 each of the "common" cards in this set, how do you explain the existence of only 2 or 3 Thorpes (and 2 or 3 Jacksons)? Could there really be 8 Thorpes and Jacksons squirrelled away secretly in some of the finest collections? |

How absurd to put a fictitious name on the label. This ranks right up there with PSA's "Mr. X Collection" fiasco. Since when does SGC play a role in protecting someone's identity. I thought they were there to grade/authenticate cards. Would have been much better to leave the name off if it was not possible to put the original collector's name on the label IMHO. |

I agree, the 'skydash' name ruined it. If I were the original collector, I would be outraged to think all my hard work over the years putting this collection together was forgotten. And to top it off, the credit is given under a fake name in reference to someone who didn't put the collection together in the first place. It was only 'passed' down through the family to someone who is only related by marriage. Just my two cents.... A sad ending to a wonderful story. |

Obviously, the collection is spectacular and will stand on its own. Any future owner could always have the item reholdered without the false name. |

I personally don't mind the Skydash reference. Obviously, anyone who followed the story on Net54 understands the connection. The hope for anonymity is understandable as well, how many of us would want everyone to know that your family just had a huge windfall? |

Can't help but think, that, if these cards were referered to as the "Joe Smith" collection, gripers would be complaining about the confusion it caused, since everyone knows these as Skydashes cards. |
