Default How many T207 Napoleons are there?

Posted By: Scott

I just found it interesting that this spring SGC had about 50 Napoleon cards graded, respresenting probably 42 or 43 different players and I just sent in a J. Lapp Napoleon to be graded (probably SGC 10), HOWEVER, I did notice SGC now has 66 Napoleon cards representing 55 different players. Lapp will make 56. So does this mean that all 150 Recruits would have a corresponding Napoleon? I was thinking that only 50 players would end up with Napoleon backs (Tim's list of Rarer Recruits).

Thanks,
Scott

THE LIST SGC CLAIMS AS NAPOLEON'S:

You can add Joe Tinker, Doc Scanlon and Wildfire Schulte (none graded by SGC) to your list of Napoleons.

I have a Daniels w/Napoleon reverse.
I had a bunch more that I sold off - I may have the info somewhere.....I remember Schardt; which is already on your list.

Hope the info helps.

Interestingly, the Daniels has a major blue print shift;
which is why I picked up the card.

This question is not something I worked on when I did the T207 articles, but it's clear to me that all 150 cards that came with Recruit backs were also printed with Napoleons, just in much smaller quantities. Of the ones reported so far, there are both the most common Recruit-class cards (Knabe, Bresnahan) and several of the least common (Ellis, Graham, Scott) so I think it's pretty safe to say that all 150 were printed with Napoleons.

It would be nice if someone wanted to try and verify this for sure, but I think it would be a long haul for a (probably) predictable conclusion.

In any case, here are the Napoleons reported by people who participated in my survey.

Block
Bresnahan
Byrne
Camnitz
Carrigan
Chalmers
Clarke
Collins
Crandall
Daubert
Delehanty
Engle
Fromme
Gainor
Graham
Kaler
Knabe
Lapp
Lennox
Livingston
McBride
McGraw
McKechnie
Milan
Morgan, Ray
Paskert
Rucker
Schaefer
Scott
Smith, Wallace
Snodgrass
Spratt
Stanage
Tooley
Walker
Wallace
Williams
Wiltse
Wingo

from my set I can add, Fisher white cap, Mullin no D and Simon. I have some more in the 4 sale box, may not have them out til Cleveland and will be getting some more in Cleveland in a lot I am picking up. I believe that you will find the list will match all of the cards that come with a Recruit back.
