since there are so few graded, why does the SMR (which most knowledgeable people will agree is worthless for pre WW 1)list the much more commom e92, e93 matty's higher in value for grade 3/4? what does an e98 matty in grade 4 retail for?...thanks

Hi Bruce- I think this may be your first post, so welcome to the board.

You first have to throw out SMR as there are just too many inaccuracies. An E98 Matty in a 4 is a pretty expensive card; a PSA 3 sold in March on ebay for $2900+, so a price of $3500 for a 4 sounds reasonable and perhaps even conservative. You also can get a bit of a premium for a tougher color (I need help on that one).

And since you logged in as uclakid I'm guessing Daniel decided for sure to go to UCLA. I wish him well.

there are none graded above 4 according to the psa pop info...and one of the psa 4's was a 4 twice.....sgc does not seem to have one in their pop information (or I just missed it)..........I wish there was someway to accurately price popular cards like (very few graded) these instead of just guessing when one does come up for sale

SMR is virtually useless on caramels. However, the thinking may be that E93s are more popular in general than E98s. Hard to say for sure what they are thinking.
