Default Cracker Jack Sets

Posted By: Myron

I'm thinking about tackling one of these sets. I love the way they look. The one thing that worries me though is the Jackson. What does this card go for in Poor condition? How hard is it to get ahold of one? Are there any other rare, high dollar cards that I should be aware of?

I'm just trying to determine if this set is even doable on my budget, or if I should pick another set to start with.

Not hard to find one at all. Just make a fair offer.

That's nice. It's probably my favorite card of all-time. I wouldn't be able to afford one in that condition, though.

Myron,
Use the search function on this site, there was a recent thread on the cost of a set and costs of the key cards. I know Quan recently had a PSA 2 Jax for sale for less than 5K. That may be the cheapest you will find for an intact card and the prices are not likely to go down anytime soon. For anything above that the competition is fierce as many collectors want the card, including myself.

If your going for the E145-1, the Mathewson easily out prices the Jackson.

I tried to tackle the 14' set and had aquired about 30 cards, no Cobb or Jackson. I decided to give it up because of budget constraints. I also found myself concetrating on just the CJ and nothing else. I kinda like to mix and match my collection. Now I am putting a 1954 Red Heart set together. Good luck with it.

The '14 set is quite expensive to put together. The '15 is a bit better esp. if you want to put together something in a nicer grade. Either way it takes a deep pocket to complete this one now days

I believe i may be the originator of that post you searched for. I have contemplated collecting the '15 set.

I thought about it...bought 2 commons from the set...and have decided to not collect the set just yet. I bid on several auctions the past few weeks...and all, except the auction with the 2 card commons lot...i lost. Really low grade examples of HOfers go for a pretty penny, at least in my book. With a focus on T206 and hall of fame rookies, ive pretty much given up the idea of trying to spread myself too thin. I'll keep the commons just in case in the future i decide to jump back in.

If you do decide to collect the set(s), good luck!
