Bucky Harris was a player manager of the Senators in the 20's through at least the 30's. Fred Clarke was also a player manager with the Pirates and maybe earlier with Louisville. I believe there were several others from the turn of the century up through the 20's. |

I think if you go through all the bios on the backs of T205, some of them refer to player/manager, but I don't recall which ones. |

Pete Rose's 1986 Topps has him listed that way. I loved that card as a kid as I suspected the player-manager designation was probably something I'd never see again. So far... |

Player Managers were very common in the 1900-1930 era. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Cobb has 2 different E121's. One list him as outfielder and the other list him as Mgr. |

I believe the Holland card of Bucky Harris lists him as "Second Base - Manager" or "Manager - Second Base." |

Nellie Fox is listed as 2B-Coach and I believe Berra is listed as C-Coach and Spahn as P-Coach. |

Leo's rival Mel Ott (he of Leo's paraphrased "nice guys finish last" quote) was player/manager of the Giants from 1942-47, full-time player until 45. His 46-47 Cuban Propagandas Montiel lists him as Manager, bio refers to his playing. |

Here is another Cobb where he is "listed" as a playing manager. |

Zach, I've said it before and I'll say it again - those cards are among the coolest cards I've ever seen. |

Marty Marion, 1951 Boman, and realistically as much of a player in his day as those new york area short stops that made the Hall. |

He was never a manager but his 1964 Topps card lists him as a pitcher/coach. |

3 more player manager cards, all Goudeys, 1933 Terry, 1934 Frisch and `934 Grimm. My Terry looks too nice for my collection, guess I should slab him and sell him, buy a replacement with the proceeds, and spend the extra on more cards. |

Ted Z mentioned Lou B, and his 1951 Bowman card has him as a player manager. And I'm starting to think that Bruce's post was designed to keep me busy searching for such cards, anyone else gonna post a car image? |
