1914 T222 Fatima

I picked these up at the Tri-star show yesterday in Cleveland. I had never seen any of these in real life before, and when I saw them I knew I had to have them. I've read in previous places that this set is under valued. If these cards are so rare to come by, why aren't they getting the value they deserve. Any help is needed.

They don't sell in auction very often and the look your cards would grade SGC 10's. The latest values are in the $70-80 range. So you over paid a bit but you did get a lot of cards in one shot.

Was going through my mind....

Not the first time I paid too much on cards. I had never seen so many together before.

What would you do? Leave them on the table
with a guy standing in line behind me to buy them.

What you experienced when you saw those cards was a good thing. You saw the cards and recognized that you liked them and that you had to have them. Whether or not you paid a little more than what they're worth is irrelevant. You saw something, you liked it and you bought it. Now all you have to do is enjoy them. It's a learning process. Keep in mind I found these T222's within the first 10 minutes of the show. Called home to check ebay and they said there was one sold and it was beat but sold for $100. Bought them and it made for a very short card show day.

I was not aware of the short prints and I guess I am lucky in that respect.
Oh well, I will be much wiser now since I have a handful of them. Thanks for the site info your Honor.

By the way quite a few on Ebay now.... Are any shortprints? Authentics are pulling $80+.

T222s and T200s are great choices in collecting. If you feel that the T222 set may be a little tough then try the T200. There are less cards and you get Jim Thorpe and Joe Jackson at (relative) bargain prices. The T200s are on the same thin stock as the T222s. I like both sets because they are actual photos of the players. Good luck!!!

Bill Cornell states that although the set was issued in 1914, several of the pictures of players were as much as five years old.

I guess that explains the apparent absence of Federal Leaguers. I wonder if this use of old pictures affects rookie card collectors.

Question: how do the non-baseball t222's compare in terms of difficulty? I've seen several in the past, but not nearly as many as the baseball.
