In two weeks it will be one year since I sent in payment for what I thought was a one year subscription to this periodical.

I have yet to get my first issue from them. Has anyone had better luck?

Any favorable forcasts?

Dan Mckee and I were just talking about this on a different post and it does seem like they are finished. I was wondering, have people who paid for a subscription gotten any kind of refund?

To order back issues--at your own risk! Dial up donbetz@vcbc.com, and you will get a message saying we have moved, click HERE. If you click HERE, you will get the old website (not available if you simply dial "vcbc.com"!), complete with complete list of issues 1-38, for sale, and the cover of issue #38--the last forever?

It seems almost criminal that they would take any money in the last year and still cash the check. I actually sent an email request for my money to be returned about four months ago and, of course, never heard a thing.

I did get about half the issues on my subs, but there has to be some way for these criminals to return the money.

I don't care anymore about Don Betz and his excuses.

VCBC got away with it because they were a monopoply ... that is until Old Cardboard came along and performed such radical tasks as publishing on time and communicating with readers.

So is Old Cardboard a monopoly now?

No refund.
It was interesting the rare times that I received the magazine and I think I have almost all of the back issues now, but I would've like to receive the issues I actually paid for, but how many time have we been down this street before?

Old Cardboard has been very impressive (so have the contributors, many of which participate in this board) in my opinion and I'll continue to support them as they as they continue to deliver a quality product.

Hell, I'll even take semi-quality.

If VCBC is in fact done, they are obligated to return subscribers' money. That's an awful lot of small checks, but I believe this may be a legal right of the people who didn't get what they paid for.

but I doubt that Pretty Panda Publishing has a pot to pee in right now. Of course, since it appears that Betz took all of the assets of the company and is selling them on ebay, there may be grounds to sue him personally. Any lawyers local to his state want to comment?

Most subscribers would be due around $10-20. How much incentive is that to start a class action lawsuit?

There has to be some money in VCBC for you to actually collect even if you win judgement. I doubt that is the case.

I always thought their last issue was the best, especially that story about the 1887 Pittsburgh team complete with Old Jdge scans.I was under the assumption that they couldnt do any better than that issue and they just called it quits

I wish to note that the football memorabilia quartlerly 'Gridiron Greats' is a well run and timely publication, and anyone interested in that subject should not hesitate to subscribe. I also think it's important to support these types of small niche publications, at least if we want them to continue to exist.
