This card amused me. Obviously grademycards.com is not a popular entity and this may be why. First, nice grade for this 52 Mantle and second, the holder is too small and is pinching the card. NICE!!!

Here is GMC's criteria for the EX 5 grade:

Excellent 5

Centering: 75/25 both ways or better on front. 95/5 or better on back. Slight diamond cutting is allowed.

Corners: Four fuzzy corners, a touch of notching or a minor ding is allowed.

Edges: Noticeable roughness - but no layering. Very slight notching or noticeable chipping is allowed.

Surface: Noticeable print spots. Minor color or focus imperfections. Minor border discoloration. Minor wax stains or very light ink mark. Some gloss lost from surface with minor scratches, but devoid of scuffing.

I guess the crease visible on the card is actually considered a "minor scratch". Good pricing though: $ 1.99 per card for 2 day service.

GMC's requirements for a 10 gem mint grade:

minor fraying allowed at corners, full rounding on only one corner, at least 70-30 centering on front and 80-20 on back. card must have original gloss, but can have spots without gloss as long as they're minimal. minor paper loss is allowed as long as the net area is smaller than 1/2 square inch. creasing must be minimal, and tears cannot exceed 1/4 inch.

As far as I see, professional card graders have two essential jobs: 1) to accurately represent the card's condition with a grade and 2) authenticate the card.

If grademycards has done such an absoultely horrible job on #1, why do the bidders apparently assume they are doing a stellar job on #2? ... Isn't #1 the easier of the two jobs?

When I start my blue moon cooking session by saying "Is there a difference between bake and boil?" or "A book made up entirely of recipies? What'll they think up next," mosts guests figure out they won't be getting Baked Alaska.

HAL - There's a few missing from that list. With the current & extinct grading companies, that # should double.
1 of my favorites thats not on the list of 22 is SNAGGELTOOTH Grading Company. I always liked that name.
