Default O/T Goodbye Singapore

We are stilll working on the system and have installed Cloudflare. It is a very comprehensive suite of utilities to help with website traffic.

If you are trying to login from Singapore, my condolences. It seems as that is where most of the BOTs are coming from so we are shutting that country down. My apologies to any Singaporians on the site.

ps...the engineer just told me the system blocked over 3000 requests from Singapore in the first 5 minues. Those guys are busy over there!

and a couple of cards, just for Bryan.

Easy enough for our Singapore members to use a VPN to get around the blockage.

Default The "funniest"part of this

Is there is a robust collecting community in Singapore

The people who run Triple Cards/Waxxed/Collectible Card Club are opening up a store in Singapore in the near future

https://www.triplecards.com/blank-3

I suspect there would not be a lot of pre-war cards there however

Regards
Rich

Way to bot down all those bots Leon. I guess as of now Singapore is right off my travel list. And how about a couple of cards just for all the folks with my preferred spelling of Brian?

I have visited the forum while in Singapore in the past, I will now tell all employers to avoid my favorite "no gum on the side walks" country.

Default Important...

**We are aware of some pictures on the forum being blocked when uploading. It's the new software. We are working on it.

No, Bryan (with a y) those and these aren't for sale. But thanks. I guess at some point, most things get sold somehow or another, or donated.
I never got your PM, btw....

Nice! Singapore was always one of my favorite liberty ports going to/from the Indian Ocean when I was in the Nav. We had slush funds on two of my aircraft carriers with thousands of dollars in them each. In nice liberty ports, like Singapore and Hong Kong, we would book the finest hotel suites for the entire in-port. On days with no duty, you could crash for free without having to go back to the ship, complete with room service, etc.

I’ve lived and worked in Singapore and SE Asia for decades and still own a home in Singapore although the majority of my time is in Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines and Pittsburgh (for now). Singapore is great. I’ve spent a lot of time doing work combating the scam industry along with mis/disinformation campaigns by governments and other nefarious groups. I can say with about 99% confidence, the bots etc aren’t coming from Singapore, although they can be made to look like they are. With almost 100% confidence, they are coming from compounds on the Thai/Myanmar/Cambodia border or in the Philippines (although less likely now that POGOs run by Chinese were shut down there.) I have a half Khmer/half American daughter who does similar work and will confirm the same thing and actually risking her life in some of the things she does. Upwards of 60% of the Cambodian economy is related to the scamming industry. It’s actually out of control. With the administration in the US wanting to eliminate most consumer protections, Americans need to gear up for an absolute flood of scams and other ways these groups will be raiding Americans personal assets. It’s going to have horrific consequences. However there are alot of groups created to start educating the US public as fast as possible.

+1. It's a totally different kettle of fish out here in terms of what people will do to earn a living. Hope your daughter keeps it locked down. Not a lot of official recourse in the Greater Mekong for those caught looking where they shouldn't.

Anyone else having issues with viewing the site on a desktop? I am constantly having to login again (idle for a few minutes, or viewing different posts).

Nope, I am on one now. No issues. If others have issues we'll look into it. It seems there are some spotty problems, but they mostly have resolved themselves.

As for the BOTs coming from Singapore, they definitely could be masking their IPs and coming from somewhere else. Regardless, Cloudflare said Singapore, we blocked them, and that situation is taken care of (at least for now).

I'm having similar issues. It's asked me to login from my desktop twice this morning already.

Leon, I don’t think it’s the worst idea for you to take a trip to Thailand. See if you can talk to the locals and find out what’s going on here.

Or if caught and arrested, expect 3 beats of the raton. I lived there for 5 years.
