Default Babe Ruth's 60th Home Run Ball 1927

I always wondered what happened to this ball. Wonder who has it now?

Interesting article, thanks for sharing, James. The article has enough clues where I could almost see someone like Ken Goldin hiring a PI to try to track down Herb's son or grandson in an attempt to bring the ball to auction.

With strong enough provenance, what would that ball fetch at auction? $3mil to $5mil? That would be quite the historical piece.

Interesting as well, Robert.

Check this out also:

1992 article from the LA Times -- Ball for Ruth’s 60th Home Run Won’t Take to Heir Anymore

and then this Chicago Tribune article from 2021 mentions that the son, George Siegel, will be auctioning off the ball in San Fancisco, but the article is behind a paywall so I can't read it.

Looks like the Chicago Tribune article is similar to the LA Times one, each of them re-posting an AP article. The dates are confusing, though -- 1992 vs. 2021.

I don't have the time to dig into this further, but it does look like there might be some contradiction behind who actually has the 60th HR ball. The HOF claims that their ball was snagged by Joe Forner at the game, not a young Herb Siegel.

Anyone have the scoop?

Shown before but this is hanging behind my home office desk and sort of on topic. Sorry for the glare from my outside window. Lou was ahead of Ruth in home runs near the half-way point, as the poster says.
