Default Photos? In game or stage

I do want to apologize, I am researching photos I have and have a few different threads going on the photos I have. Everytime I see an interesting photo in the collection, I want to ask a question about it therefore-I have been posting pictures of the photos I have in the different threads, but I'm not sure where to ask this question. So another post. Maybe this is the way to ask, post a photo, ask a question and move on. What do you think, will this work better than being all over the place?

Any way- do these photos look like it is an in-game photo, or is it a pose photo (stage). I notice no batting helmet on Laabs but I believe that batting helmets became mandatory for all major league baseball teams in 1971. Also is he in a St. Louis Browns uniform? John

To me these appear quite obviously staged

I think that unless a super telephoto lens was being used, these have to be posed, or else the photographer would have been on the field during the game.

Definitely staged. Real action shots taken during games aren't taken in fair territory. That doesn't rule out pre game warming up though, I'm sure that time was used to capture many great shots.

Chet's right foot might be out of the batter's box and there isn't an umpire to be seen behind the catcher.
A staged shot, for sure.

And the catcher's butt appears to be inches away from a tarp backstop.
