They can do that, when they are grading 1.5 million cards a month.

So PSA is going to give even worse service and charge more for it?

Makes total sense….

Dropped a card off at the chantilly show at the express tier so a "5" day turn around (lol). Hoping I get it back within the month. But would not be surprised if it takes 2.

I recently took an item for in-show authentication at the PSA booth in Rosemont, IL, and they wanted $75 on top of the authentication to do it within the 3 days. Is this their common fee or is this a new tax on the consumer?

What was the card? $75 is reserved for 10 business day turnaround, up to $1500 cards

My bad, accidentally typed Philly instead of Chantilly.

So at 1.5 million cards a month and lets pick a number - lets say they NET CLEAR $10 per card after expenses.

That calc comes out to a net profit of $15 Million (dollars - american) per month.

If I got that kind of cash laying around - I'm thinking that I might be able to hire another Grader or 2 (or 3). Yes?

It was an autographed mini football helmet. They were charging $75 on top of the standard autograph authentication fee for any item. Wasn't sure if that's the usual deal for an in-show turnaround or a new one.

Often it's a boom/bust cycle. Right now, we're towards the boom end. I suspect that they don't want to staff up just to have submissions drop, and then get caught with a bunch of graders sitting around with nothing to do.

Extra so if a lot of their graders are focused on ultra modern, which probably is the most prone to boom/bust cycles.
