Default Seeking Negro League Images

Hi all,
I hoped to maybe get some help on a project I have been working on covering Black baseball as it developed in Alabama. Several net54 members have already been very cool with assisting and I am so thankful!

I am searching for images of players who have connections to Alabama for a book to be published later this year. I have had trouble locating some of these guys and hoped the forum might either have or direct me to some high quality scans. It's the unsung guys I am hoping to give some props and would love to put faces with their names. Some have images out there but are really low dpi and my publisher is a demon about high res, I hoped someone here might have better quality.

Its a project I have been working on for a several years and I am excited to see it come to fruition. Thank you so much for any help or info you might have.

Absolutely! Dr. Ravel and the staff have been awesome, I made one trip there already and head back soon for another meeting. They have helped with some rare guys and offered every support an author could ask for.

This list comprises many of the guys who might slip through without any associated images unless I can come up with other sources. I thought the folks here might be familiar with a few of these.

Thank you, that is fantastic! Would you be willing to send a hq scan that I could include in the book? I had hoped to find something from them, I have an Indy Clowns program, those two teams were often barnstorming here.

Absolutely I gladly give credit! I am happy to credit and might legally required, my publisher has a whole list of rules I had no clue about until I signed on. Image rights got complex fast, especially on personal shots where theres no telling who took the snap. That sent me lookin for images to replace some of the ones I learned would be denied or unusable due to rights problems.

Gilkersons Union Giants, looks like maybe 1920 or round about? Another barnstorming beast on the road, they were!

Yes, I think if we say ca.1920s, we'll be pretty close on it.

This one isn't a barnstorming team but what an early postcard image. Very rough shape but you take what you can!

Dunno if this has any relevance:

It's a military team around 1940. The name "Brown Bombers" may be a reference to Alabama native Joe Louis (one of his nicknames was "The Brown Bomber") or a reference to air force bombers? I have no idea. I just thought it was a cool photo.

This is cool! I think Joe sponsored some wartime leagues USO leagues, its possible this could be connected, maybe even a semi pro or youth league. Never seen one of these before, thank you!
