Default Fleer World Series sets

Looking for info on the Fleer World Series card sets. I know the first one was 1967. Was there a 1968 set? Cards from the 1970 set have "1968" on the backs. If I remember right, there was a 1968 set and 2 other cards were issued in 1970 for that set. Looking for as much info on the Fleer World Series sets. I have a Blue Back and Black back set that have "1968" on the backs. TIA

The "1968" is not a copyright date, but the date of the licensing agreement allowing them to use names and logos. The blue backs were issued in 1970. The black backs were issued (mostly) in 1971. In 1978, Good Humour did a promotion that gave away new cards for the 1971-1977 World Series, and in 1979, Robert Laughlin sold complete sets of all 75 cards direct to the public.

Thanks for that info.

Don't forget the 1980 team sticker issue that had cartoons created for the 1978 and 1979 World Series (no text), which also changed the 1971 cartoon because of the original showing Clemente.

Did they ever come up with a design for 1980 WS in one of the myriad team sticker sets of the 80's?

The Fleer 1980 World Series set has fronts for the years 1940 to 1979, but the backs have team logos that vary. I think you need 127 different cards for a master set

The Fleer 1981 All Star set has All Star Game fronts for 1933 to 1980 but again the backs have team logos that can vary. I think you need 128 cards for a master set

I have collected Fleer sets from 1959 to 2007. I have some of the 1923 Fleer set , including Ruth, but do not expect to ever finish that set. From 1981 to 2007 I just did the Fleer base sets and any update set. But from 1959 to 1980 I think I have finished every baseball related set Fleer produced, using the Fleer Sticker Blog as a partial guide....and there are a lot of them
