It seems that the Checklists were distributed with only the second series cards. The second series are only about 1/10 as common as the first series. Plus of course the destruction factor associated with Checklist cards is several times that associated with regular cards. So the Planes Checklists are very tough indeed.

There are two variations of the checklist as well, Blony and Bazooka. In this condition probably $20+/- each, a little better $30 or so.

What's even more puzzling is that the Checklists are printed on white card stock while the other 120 cards are printed on grey card stock meaning the Checklists could not have been printed on the same sheet as the other cards. The Checklists therefore appear to have been an afterthought on Topps' part.

In fact offhand I can't think of any other Topps' set from 1957 or earlier that included a Checklist. The Planes set might therefore be where Checklists were first introduced.

1956 was the first year for Checklist by Topps, and as you have posted elsewhere they went wild in 1957 with all kinds of checklists and contest cards, all of which might have been separate printings with none of them on the actual card sheets.

Yes indeed! And now I want some of those cool Contest and other Promo cards. Here's a good shot of the Checklists front-and-back:

(Not mine.)

As can be seen, they're both printed on white card stock.

Blue backed cards are about twice as common as the red backs but they were both printed on grey card stock:
