Default August 2024 Pick Ups

Somehow, I've gone 35+ years of collecting without ever owning a 1952 Topps card. That ended today!

Thanks Tom! As a Red Sox fan, Pesky seemed like a great 1st 1952 Topps card!

Another recent arrival I'm very excited about, a 1965 Topps Steve Carlton RC.

Was finally able to pick up a 52T Jackie. Been wanting one for quite some time.
It has it's faults, but IMO presents better than a normal 1.

Just got back from SGC today. It was about a 2-1/2 week turnaround (just the standard $15 rate). I was amazed it came back so quickly. Was pleasantly surprised. I figured it'd be an Authentic. Glad it got a 1.

Though I’ve owned multiple copies in the past, was embarrassed as a Cubs fan to say that I did not have a copy of the Billy Williams RC in my current arsenal. Had to change that as I focus in more heavily on team sets / less expensive vintage. I had forgotten what a tough card this can be even in midgrade - print flaws abound, and most that I saw in the 3-5 range were centered way worse than this one.

Couldn’t resist this earlier this week at the LCS. Yes, it’s not super difficult to find the Kellogg’s cards in high grade, but love it just the same. Also goes well with the Ryan from the same set I already have also in a 9:
