Default T206 Blank Back Values

I have had this card for 10-15 years, but dont follow t206 too much and had a couple of questions.

Do 3rd party graders still grade them and will the get anything other then authentic.
Are these considered printing errors or scrap
What is the general value obviously it would depend on player and condition so what are the thoughts on this Mike Mitchell’s value.
Has a stain at the bottom and the lower right has some blunting and creasing. Rest of the card is clean with some corner wear and even boarders.

Thanks

I think I heard that SGC isn't slabbing Blank Backs or any scraps anymore. Which, if true, is a real shame. The labels they created for such cards helped fuel a popular sector of the hobby (scrap/error collecting).

Here's my Mitchell blank back (Proof). Sounds like you may be interested in selling your Mitchell...if so, I wouldn't mind acquiring your it as a nice companion to mine. I'll send you a DM.

Would be fun to see those two cards together.

I always like the alignment marks on proofs (and other cards....)

Very surprised that this got no discussion or responses especially considering how popular this set is 🤷🏻

Unfortunately, controversial topics seem to get the most attention. It's certainly not unique to Net54, either.

I think your blank back T206 is awesome. I like printing errors, oddities, etc. I wish SGC still slabbed these with a designation of blank back or whatever. They don't, from what I've read; however, I think they'll still slab them with an Authentic "grade"on the flip.

Thanks for sharing a picture of the Mitchell.

Neither sgc or psa graded them last I checked which was 2022 I think. In theory yours ought to have a little extra value since it's graded. Not sure exactly what they're worth these days as I can't recall seeing a completed sale or auction anything recently. There are completed sales you can find on REA's site and probably a decent amount on LotG and Sterling as well.

I CANNOT contribute anything with respect to their value, but I DO have one - and have for a while...

I did ger this one graded by Beckett last year. No idea whether it's considered blank back, proof, or something else. They graded it as if it weren't handcut, and it doesn't look handcut to me.

Mitchell is a fairly common card so Im guessing that yours would value along the same lines as a PSA 1 to 1.5 - maybe $40-$50?

I don't really follow T206 very closely, but I would surmise a blank back would be a few hundred bare minimum, even as a total beater.

My estimate is you could probably get $1,500 for that card without too much trouble.

I bought an uncirculated blank back last year, sent it to SGC, and it was rejected. They told me they don't grade those anymore, which is a shame.

FYI, I consigned my Moran to REA. In their January auction starting tomorrow, for those who might be interested.

Good luck with the auction. Maybe someday I will get 4 figures for each of these insultingly similar Zeenut cards.

Brian,
Those are awesome! Love those evaluations of skills. Keep those guys together and maybe I’ll build a “badmouthing backs line” one day!

Thanks for the workday chuckle!

I have always read it as "Meusel is nothing but a old flat lunch". The first letter of the last word looks very similar to the 'L' in both 'old' and 'flat', and the last letter of the last word looks like the 'h' in 'nothing'.

I imagine a sandwich in a paper bag that was squished down by heavy school books resting on top of it.

On a related note:

I played ball quite a bit when I was younger. I've been called mediocre, a punk, and a fool. However, I have never, ever, ever been called a flat head or a flat lunch.

Guess I'll settle for being a foolish mediocre punk.

I personally think it would be an honor to be referred to as either a 'flat head' or a 'flat lunch'. However, your mileage might vary.
